Uganda Human Rights Commission

Mandate

To protect and promote human rights in the country.

The Commission was enshrined in the 1995 Uganda Constitution and established on 6 November 1996.


Functions

To investigate and hear human rights allegations,
Visit places of detention,
Carry out research, education and training,
Monitor government’s compliance with international obligations and make recommendations to Parliament
