The Edinburgh Declaration

National Human Rights Institutions from around the world adopted the Edinburgh Declaration in 2010, which lays out the commitments made by NHRIs to promote:

  • Enhanced protection against corporate-related human rights abuse;
  • greater accountability and respect for human rights by business actors;
  • access to justice for victims and;
  • establishing multi-stakeholder approaches to working on business and human rights.
