The Apia Declaration 2024
Adopted at the Commonwealth Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (CFNHRI) Biennial Conference 17–18 October 2024 | Apia, Samoa.
The Apia Declaration 2024 reaffirms the CFNHRI’s commitment to promoting a sustainable culture of human rights across the Commonwealth. It urges Member States to prioritize human rights in policies, adequately resource NHRIs, and address the impacts of climate change. CFNHRI members also pledged to collaborate under four pillars:
Pillar 1: Resilient Democratic Institutions upholding Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law
Pillar 2: Resilient Environment to Combat Climate Change
Pillar 3: Resilient Economies that Support Recovery and Prosperity
Pillar 4: Resilient Societies to Empower Individuals for a Peaceful and Productive Life
