Special report from Cyprus Ombudsman on COVID-19 and human rights

The Cyprus Commissioner for Administration and Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman) has published a report summarising work undertaken to uphold human rights during the COVID-19 pandemic. The report is part of an awareness campaign being carried out by the Ombudsman with links to information about COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on human rights. The report provides detail on interventions which have been undertaken by the Ombudsman including:

  • highlighting the human rights of implications of COVID-19 regulations in places where people are deprived of their liberty or are under restriction
  • improving access to information on the pandemic for disabled people
  • upholding women’s rights linked to maternity
  • upholding children’s rights during COVID-19
