CFNHRI adopts Kigali Declaration on Early and Forced Marriage

The Commonwealth Secretariat in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Rights of the Republic of Rwanda co-organised a CFNHRI Working Session on Early and Forced Marriage and Sexual Violence in Conflict on 5-7 May 2015.

The Working Session, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda saw the participation of over 50 participants, who included representatives from CFNHRI member-institutions, the Commonwealth Secretariat as well as experts and resource persons.

The Working Session concluded with the adoption of the Kigali Declaration on Early and Forced Marriage, which sets out a comprehensive framework for NHRIs to take forward and strengthen their efforts in prevention and elimination of early and forced marriage in their respective countries.
