Implementing Resolution 275: a guide for African NHRIs

16 December 2020

The Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) has produced guidance to help NHRIs across Africa put measures in place to enact Resolution 275.

In May 2014, The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights adopted this Resolution, called the ‘Resolution on Protection against Violence and Other Human Rights Violations against Persons on the Basis of their Real or Imputed Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity’. It concludes that all people are entitled to equal protection under the African Charter and emphasises the need to end violence and discrimination against LGBTQI+ people.
