Guidelines on the rights of people with disability in health and disability care during COVID-19

09 January 2021

The Australian Human Rights Commission developed comprehensive guidelines to assist health care, disability services and support workers take a human rights-based approach to decision-making during the pandemic. The guidelines provide practical examples of the application of human rights in health settings, show the positive influence on outcomes for disabled people and may also be useful for disabled people, and their families and carers, in understanding their rights.

The guidelines are focused on the Australian experience but are grounded in the universal principles of the UNCRPD , so can be adapted for the international context.
